An exquisite early 20th-century German porcelain figurine, depicting an elegant Rococo-inspired lady in a graceful pose, dressed in an elaborate gown of remarkably delicate porcelain lace.
The figurine is beautifully hand-painted, with delicate colours and fine details individually applied to the lady’s face, hair, costume and decorative elements.
Most extraordinary is her dress. What appears to be real fabric lace is actually porcelain. To create this intricate effect, genuine textile lace was saturated with liquid porcelain slip and carefully arranged by hand over the figure. During firing, the original fabric burned away, leaving its delicate pattern permanently captured in porcelain.
The result is an exceptionally fragile, almost fabric-like texture that became a celebrated feature of fine Dresden-style German porcelain.
Condition: Very Good Vintage Condition with approximately 4 chipped lace which is consider very minor wear given its fragility
Dimension: Approx : H19cm; 15 x 8 cm
