An exquisite piece of Victorian beauty history.
During the Victorian and Edwardian periods, women often saved the loose hair collected from their brushes in decorative porcelain hair receivers. Rather than simply throwing it away, the hair could be reused to add volume to elaborate hairstyles, or incorporated into the intricate hairwork jewellery and keepsakes that became especially associated with the mourning culture of the 19th century.
